Instructional Division is for players 5 & 6 years old. This program is the most fundamental skills program
available, teaching the basics of the game: throwing, catching, baserunning, fielding and hitting a stationary ball
off a tee. Players progress to hitting 'live pitches' from their coach by season end and have a tremendous amount of
fun. A soft, safety type softball is used. 'Official' games are played where sufficient sign ups allow for 2 teams.
Practices and games are held at Sokol Rd. field. This program is generally a two day per week program, days determined
by the Coaches. Parental involvement is critical to the success of this league.

Rookie League is primarily for players 7 & 8 years of age or players less than 7 years old by 12/31/07 who have
completed 1 year at the Instructional level. Live pitching by coaches with a softer safety ball is used. Skill
development and fun are emphasized. In addition to fundamental skills development, a greater emphasis is placed on game
rules. Rookie League practices and games are held at Sokol Rd. field and is a two day per week program. Games
are played between Somers teams where sufficient sign ups allow. A small number of games may be played against
adjacent towns like Ellington at our fields at Field Rd. Park. Rookie League is looking for volunteer coaches for the
2008 season.

Minor League Softball focuses on skill development, position play, the rules of the game, and the great amount of fun
inherent to this sport. All practices & games are held at the fields at Field Road Park. Participants
play a 12-14 game schedule during the season, resulting in a 3 day per week program (2 mid-week games - ie: Tuesdays &
Thursdays & 1 week-end practice as determined by the Coaches) wherein a single practice or game lasts about 90 minutes.
Since the Minor League program is an in-town program for games, there is NO travel unless coaches decide to play against
a team in the multi-town league. All games are officiated by an umpire. The Minor League program is
in need of Coaches for the 2008 season.

The Majors is a fun yet more competitive Softball program with increased emhasis on proper hitting and fielding
techniques, position play, pitching mechanics, and game strategy. While this division is geared toward 11 & 12 year
old players, 12 year olds do have the option of trying out for Senior League play. All practices are held at Field
Road Park. Participants play a 14-16 game schedule during the season, resulting in a 3 day per week program (2 games
per mid-week - ie: Mondays & Wednesdays and 1 week-end practice) wherein a single practice or game runs about 2
hours. We currently participate in a multi-town league for games meaning that travel to adjacent towns is required for
some games. The Major League program is in need of Coaches for the 2008 season.

The Senior League Softball program is for players aged 13 - 16 years. (Note: League Age 12 year olds have
the option of trying out for Seniors in the 2008 season). This fun, competitive program is designed to acclimate players
to full regulation softball rules while also teaching them the finer points of pitching, fielding, hitting, position
play, and game strategy. There is an increased emphasis on the mental aspect of the game. All games are officiated
by a Certified Umpire. Participants play a 16-18 game schedule during the season, resulting in a 4 day per week program
(2-3 games per mid-week,1 mid-week practice and/or 1 week-end practice) wherein a single practice or game runs about
2 hours. Note: Game schedules do not follow a Mon/Wed or a T/Thurs format meaning that games may be scheduled
on all different nights of the week throughout the season. We currently participate in a multi-town league for games
meaning that travel to adjacent towns is required for some games. The Senior League program is in need of Coaches
for the 2008 season
